Modern style composite doors

Traditional style doors are a mainstay for many consumers, but modern styles are growing in popularity. We offer a wide choice of modern composite front and back doors, in turn making a difference to your home’s security and thermal efficiency.
What are the advantages of modern composites over other doors?
Composites have the same wood-like look as timber, and are robust without being as bulky as aluminium. They are also beneficial in other ways.
Much easier to keep clean
Unlike wood, a composite doesn’t need repainting, as its GRP (or glass reinforced plastic) skin is easy to clean. All it takes is warm water with a touch of hand soap and a clean cloth to wipe it down. It’s also resistant to fading in sunlight; whereas a painted wooden door can chip and peel, requiring repainting and wasting money.
NOTE: DO NOT use solvents (e.g. washing-up liquid, bleach), abrasives (scouring pads) or power washers to clean your composite door, as these can damage the surface and discolour it.
More thermally efficient
Composites are multi-layered, trapping in heat that would easily escape through a single-layered door. This means you won’t have to crank up the heat to make up for loss of warmth. Our composite doors also use warm edge spacer bars within the glass to similarly keep heat from escaping. An aluminium door is made from heat-conductive material, and so is less energy efficient.
Weather resistant
Because of its weather resistant surface, a composite front or back door won’t absorb water as an untreated wooden door might. A door without weather resistance can eventually warp and degrade, causing problems with insulation and even the correct alignment of door mechanisms, particularly locks.
What are popular options for modern doors?
While you can customise your new door to your heart’s desire, here are some of the most popular options for modern style composites.
Small squares are a favourite
Among our most popular modern composite styles are the Lincoln and our Monza sub-range.
The Lincoln Composite Door
The Lincoln consists of a flat slab and three small squares of glass running down the centre. This is in fact one of six ‘small square’ styles; the others are:
Hampshire | 3 squares | handle side |
Warwick | 3 squares | hinge side |
Gloucester | 4 squares | handle side |
Worcester | 4 squares | centre |
Hertford | 4 squares | hinge side |

The Monza 3 Square Centre Composite Door
The Monza styles all have a slab with a large grooved rectangle and horizontal dividing lines. The Monza 3 Square Centre is similar to the Lincoln, but with the glass cassettes flat and modern instead of the more common rounded cassettes. We also offer the:

Greys, especially anthracite
Anthracite grey is by far the most popular colour choice for our modern composite doors, and evokes a serious tone. The slightly lighter slate grey is also popular with modern styles.

Sandblast-and-clear glass is a good combination
Most of these doors have modern glass designs consisting of sandblasted glass with etched areas of some kind. Some of these glass designs include:
• Kensington – a triple-glazed design, mostly sandblast with a clear border, available with for modern composites
• Edge – a design for our Monza ‘small square’ styles, sandblasted with an etched linear border not at the immediate edges of the glass
• Roma – a more elaborate design, sandblast with etched lines, available for our ‘small square’ Monza doors

Bar handles go well with them
Most of our modern designs can accommodate a bar handle up to 1500mm in height, with choices of round or flat. Each includes a separate escutcheon and makes use of a slam lock, where the door locks when closed without needing to lock it by key.
