Composite door colours
Ever since they first appeared on the UK market in 1996, composite external doors have not only proved to be an effective alternative to wooden ones in areas of security and thermal efficiency, but also changed the colour options available to customers – with these options only growing over time.
What are the benefits of having a coloured composite door compared to painting a wooden one?
Composites are a great replacement to external wooden doors, not only in durablity but colour too!
Composites never need repainting
With a durable GRP (or glass reinforced plastic) skin, your composite door will not lose its colour as a painted wooden door can.
They are easy to clean
Unlike wooden doors, it's easy to clean a composite. All it takes is a clean cloth and warm soapy water.
PLEASE NOTE that using abrasive cleaning products and solvent based chemicals (including washing-up liquid) is not recoomended – and can damage your new door!
They’re weather resistant
Designed for British weather all year round, our composite external doors are resistant to the rain and to fading in the sun. On the other hand, paint on a wooden door can chip and peel when exposed to the elements, leaving it to look untidy and unfinished.
Touching-up is simple
In the event your composite does chip, it takes no more than a touch-up pen or touch-up paint to correct this.
What are your typical colour options?

Can I colour-match surrounds to the door?
Yes you can! Our frames and finishing trim can be matched to the door colour easily.
Frames come in the same range of colours
While white by default, the frame can be matched to the door's colour if desired, or even made to a different colour entirely!
New top lights and side panels make matching easier
It is advised to order replacement toplights and side panels with these new doors, as not only will the profiles match, but we can also colour them in the same range of finishes as the door.
We use RAL colour codes
The RAL colour system is well-recognised and consists of a wide range of colours. If you should need to paint any part of your home to match the door, we'd be happy to supply you the correct RAL code.
What colours are most popular?
Colour is first and foremost a matter of personal choice. However, should you need inspiration, here are some crowd-pleasers.
Chartwell Green is an all-round fave
This pastel green is one of our most popular options, as it gives a calming aura to any door style and doorway.
Anthracite Grey for modern designs
Anthracite grey is the perfect choice for sleek, contemporary door styles, and not as overpowering as bold colours or black.
Woodgrains for a more organic look
The natural look of wood is never lost on homeowners, which is why we offer the dark rosewood and lighter oak finishes for composites to make them an easy replacement to timber.
White for the inside
While you can also have the inside in the same range of colours as outside, ther majority of customers leave this as white, as this helps to keep the internal hallway looking bright.
Blue adds value to your home
Believe it or not, a blue door can add value to your property, by as much as £4k according to market research. In particular, navy blue has a track record of attracting potential buyers.
Can I have my door in a specific colour?
Our range of finishes is extensive, but there may be something specific you had in mind that isn't part of our regular range of colours. This is where our bespoke colour service comes in - utilising the vast pallette of RAl colours.
From Night Blue to Luminous Yellow
Whether you envision a door in a sandy RAL 2007, a mossy RAL 6039 or a gentle RAL 5018, we can make this happen. This bespoke finish will have the same resilience and weather-proofing as our existing selection of colours.
No need to paint it
Because we provide a bespoke colour service, there’s no need for you to paint your composite, ensuring a surface that’s still easy to clean and weather resistant.
